“The Great Minds” was founded by Mrs. Indu Priya Shanmugavel in the mission to impart quality education to kids for a better world tomorrow. Learning must be fun rather than a burden. This is the mission statement. The school is run under Great Minds Educational Trust and is managed by Mr. B. Shanmugavel who is the Managing Trustee.

Mrs. Indu Priya, the Correspondent is a technocrat in Biotechnology. Her schooling was done abroad. According to her education must be simple and fun rather than a pressure on the kids. She is a fun loving person and would like to keep the school full of life so that kids enjoy their hours here. Education must be practical learning and not bookish as in the olden days. To her Learning must be enjoyable yet fruitful.

Our school was inaugurated on the 7th of October by Mr. P. Nataraj, Managing Director, KPR Mills Limited. He honored us by hoisting the National flag and cutting the ribbon.

Classes started on the 14th of October with the Vidhyarambam of all the students along with their parents. The school follows the idiscoveri X- SEED curriculum, under the guidance of Ms. Deivanai who is our Academic Councilor. Our gems took about a week’s time to settle down and get into the routine of school. As school became familiar we started with our curriculum filled with activities such as Circle Time, Theme Time, Language Skill, Maths skill and Reflection time. They have outdoor as well as indoor activities in a day’s routine and so our gems get exposed to small day to day activities.

As our curriculum started they came to know about their family members and their relationships with them, how to keep themselves and their surroundings clean. Later they learnt about their sense organs and their purposes.

They got to know about varieties of food which includes healthy fruits and vegetables. They knew that junk foods give them tummy bugs and that yummy, juicy and amazing fruits and vegetables keep them strong and fit.

Next they got used to the weather condition and what to wear in the suited climate. They were introduced to the fascinating primary colors and how the mixing of the primary colors gives them another lovely color.

Their mathematical skills were developed with the MSOP techniques were in M stands for matching, S for sorting, O for ordering and P for paring. They learnt to explore the shapes in the environment, recognize patterns and sort object.

They learnt to appreciate nature by growing their own little garden by watering and tending to it daily basis. They got to familiar about the lovely and colorful flowers and the insects that help in pollination and give us some useful nectar for different purposes. They learnt be eco friendly by not harming animals whether domestic or wild.

They learnt the English alphabets through phonics where they learn the sounds first and then learn to identify the letters.
